McCrohans of Nevada & California
My Family TreePosted on behalf of Barbara Taylor:

My great great grandfather was John McCrohan.  He was born in Cahirciveen, County Kerry, Ireland in 1808/09.  He married Mary Mannix about 1838.  Mary was born abt 1810 in County Kerry.  She died shortly after the birth of her 3 children.

My great grandmother, Honora McCrohan, was born 7 Nov 1843 in Cahirciveen, her sister, Julia was born 16 Dec 1839 and brother John born in 1845.  After the mother's death the grandmother (not sure which one) took the children.  When John finished school he came to America..Virginia City, Storey County, Nevada.  He was followed later by his sisters, Hanora (called her self Nora) and Julia.  Hanora married my great grandfather, Thomas Williams, in 1875 in San Francisco, California, and they also came to Virginia City (they may have met there and just traveled to San Francisco to marry).  Their first child was born in 1878 in Gold Hill, Storey County, Nevada, but my grandmother and her brother were born in Santa Clara County, California.  Both Thomas and Hanora died in Nevada.

(Barbara mailed the above to the mailing list, but I'm posting this here in case anyone recognises any of the names, in Cahirciveen, Nevada or California.  Although John is a name which often crops up in McCrohan genealogy, "Mary Mannix" might give us a clue as to which branch this is. - Jerry)
